Rezzim

Student Accommodation Cross-Platform Ecosystem

NEXT.JS FLUTTER FIREBASE GEOLOCATION

The Challenge

Finding safe, affordable, and conveniently located student accommodation in Harare has traditionally been a highly manual, chaotic process relying on fragmented WhatsApp groups, physical bulletin boards, and word of mouth. Students needed a centralized, trustworthy platform to streamline their search, while landlords needed a professional way to manage applications.

Rezzim Web Dashboard

The Solution

Rezzim was conceptualized and developed as a cross-platform ecosystem spanning both web and mobile, utilizing Next.js for the powerful web dashboard and a Flutter codebase for the mobile application. The system allows landlords to list properties with rich photographic detail, exact map locations, and full amenity lists. Meanwhile, students can intuitively find their next home using advanced filtering by distance to campus, price, and room type.

Web Application Interface

The web platform was designed with a focus on expansive filtering, large image galleries, and a comprehensive map view that allows students to view the distance of multiple properties relative to their university campus at a glance.

Mobile Application Experience

The mobile application was optimized for on-the-go browsing. It features a highly tactile interface, quick-swipe gesture support for viewing property images, and push notifications to alert students immediately when a highly sought-after listing becomes available near their preferred campus.

Key Architecture

Deep location services integration powers the map-based discovery engine. The architecture supports complex high-resolution image uploads with automated compression, dynamic filtering algorithms, and a highly scalable NoSQL database design structured to accommodate thousands of listings and massive concurrent search spikes during peak academic enrollment seasons.
