Critical Safety IoT Mobile Platform
The Challenge
Personal safety applications often fail when they are needed most—during moments of low connectivity or stress. HerShield required an engineering approach that prioritized absolute reliability, discretion, and offline capability.
The Solution
I developed HerShield with fail-safes natively built in. The platform handles hardware-level interactions to provide discrete SOS functionality without needing to unlock the device.
Key Architecture
Features robust background services (via flutter_foreground_task) to maintain active location sharing and distress monitoring, tied directly to SMS fallbacks ensuring SOS delivery even without active internet connections. Data is locally persisted using highly encrypted vaults.
